How do you calculate how much concrete is needed for a project?
Length times width times thickness (in feet), divided by 27 gives you cubic yards. For structural elements like footings, beams, and columns, each piece is calculated separately and added together. Waste factor runs 5 to 10% depending on scope and pour conditions. On larger jobs, experienced concrete estimators also account for pump waste and pour overlap.
This is standard across the concrete industry. The difference between doing it yourself and using a professional estimation service is how fast it gets done and how many items don't get missed.
